JYOTI NIVAS COLLEGE is a minority Christian College founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Tarbes. It is affiliated to the Bangalore University.  Since its inception in 1966, Jyoti Nivas College has remained steadfast to one central commitment, to provide a balanced comprehensive education in the liberal Arts, Science and Commerce, aimed at turning out intellectually enlightened, morally upright, spiritually oriented and socially committed young persons.

COLLEGE OF EXCELLENCE : This is a huge honour bestowed by the University Grants Commission at the national level. Only 10 colleges in India and only two in Karnataka have been chosen for this honour and Jyoti Nivas is one of the to receive it.  Jyoti Nivas College is the first premier women's Institution in the Country to receive this status.

• The Autonomous status was granted in 2004 and Jyoti Nivas College was recognized as a "College with Potential for Excellence" by the University Grants Commission. 

• Was conferred with a "Five-Star" status by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council in 1998. 

• Acquired UGC recognition under 2 (f) on 31-07-1976 and under 12 (b) on 23-08-1994. 

• Oriented on core values of ethics, quality, merit and social service imparting value based education and sensitive citizenship.
